I really really like this song by Jeff Chang. Its always makes me pause and think...

Animal cruelty
Flipping through the SPCA website and saw yet another incidence of cruelty to yet another poor cat. This time the kitten lost the fight. How can any decent human being be cruel to a defenceless animal? The poor kitten was killed and dismembered at Blk 550 Choa Chu Kang St 52. It sickens me...
Poor little kitten. Wherever it be now, at least its suffering is over. :(

Density test
Its said that muscle weighs more than fat. Actually, that's not true. 1kg of muscle weighs the same as 1kg of fat. After all, 1 kg is 1kg, whether it is feathers, iron, muscle or fat! Its just that muscle is more compact and so size for size, the same volume of muscle would be heavier than fat.
I think women are generally more fat than men, if only because of their mammary assets. So size for size, the man would be heavier than the woman, which just goes to confirm what many women, or to be more accurate, what i suspect -- men are dense. Which is why men just don't get it!

I can't sleep!
Came back just now around 10plus. I can't sleep when there's light, which is why i leave on the first train when i do night inspection so that, when i reach home, its still relatively dark. It was already very bright when i left, and S sent me back so i was exposed to lots of sunshine coming into his car. I'm super duper tired now but its still so bright that i can't sleep. Sigh... That's why i'm playing mahjong cos otherwise i've nothing to do... :P
Any ideas? *scratch head*

Pearl dragons!
heh heh... :) Was playing HongKong Mahjong on the PC and in the same round, got 2 Pearl Dragons! Heh heh heh... That's all the pong for the balls and the bai ban. And both times zi mo! Maximum! *beams* *rolling on ground in glee*
Bye bye!
Heehee... Ended my work today! Had to go back this morning cos i had no idea how to transfer my emails so S asked F to come in to help me. F guessed that the IT girl from CCS hq didn't want to do it, so anyway F came in. Then she told me she'll delete ALL the emails in my email! haha! She's so e-veil lor... But anyway, they can always open the email from the gmail account and see the emails from there. But the first cut is done. Wonder what Ru will say on Monday when she opens... F taught me what to say ''i'm no longer CCS staff, i don't know!'' but its easier said than done, cos Ru has not done anything against me so i bear her no grudges.
Cleaned out my recycle bin too, and on top of that F installed a programme that made it irrecoverable. Made sense; since its already deleted, why would there be a need to keep the data?
So on Monday, i'll be getting ready to report to the HQ at 0830hrs. Guess i'll take the earlier bus and try to be early. Not good to be late on my first day! :)
I wonder if i'm now ''infected'' with job hopping? I really hope i can stay here and not leave. After all, i'm approaching the wonderful age where most employers won't want to touch you even with a 10-foot pole. And i'd be happy staying in a job where i won't have to look out for another post. Its quite tiring and not exactly nice to be changing jobs every year.
In this economic climate, i'm glad i have this next post ready for me... Pray hard!

Last night!
Well, going for my last night duty tonight. But will have to go early tomorrow cos my snr mgr is coming early to help forward all my emails to another one. heh heh heh... But sad for me cos i won't be enjoying my off! Oh well...
Managed to hand over all to Ru. Must say that she was quite cool about signing all the stuff. Hmm... So it was a relief that i have nothing left!
Asked boss where i would be going on Monday and he told me HQ of course. Phew! Saw the big big boss at CCS hq too, so i greeted him. :) I think i'll be doing the final accounts etc for my site before they place me at other sites. Its the 2nd plan; they'll either place me at one site or give me a few sites to manage. Probably i'll be given one to start off and then given more later. Oh no... Its quite tiring having to run one site fully, though i suppose i have to start somewhere. And after having managed this place with the horrible clients, it should hopefully be a breeze cos i also did a bit of payroll and a lot of admin!
So no way i can take leave for a while or to stay home be full time Horus' mummy... :P

2 days left!
2 days left! Or should i say it more accurately; 2 days 1 night duty left! :)
Well, heard news that the CEO has resigned as well. Coming from the guy who met me twice to convince me to stay as ''there are lots of opportunities in the company'' etc, that's a bit rich. :P Haven't sent a 'take care' message to him yet; hmm, wondering if i should?
No idea why the days are now so packed. Just snapped at Ru cos even now, she will refer to me for decisions. Hello? I've handed over last Monday! Right now i'm just clearing my table and helping out with admin. And of course, leaving quite punctually and not later than 6pm if i can help it!
I pity Ru though. She looks so much more stressed now than she did when i saw her the first day she came over. All R & i can comment to ourselves is that 3B finally knows how much of work we both do, cos we've been hearing snide comments all along that our site is so senang! heehee... the truth is finally out!
Tomorrow, what to do? Clear more paper and do what i can, but after that on Thursday i'll probably go around saying good bye to the more hardworking staff. Last min shopping? I doubt so. What else can i buy? There is a limit to my funds after all. But i must say that i tried the new perfume ''Power'' by Kenzo, and it smells nice. Its $84 for the 60ml before 20% staff discount. Hmm... think it may be my last splurge? ;)

Sergeant Keroro model kits
Dear is teasing me, that once i get into a craze i go all out and get as much as i can of it. Well, why do things in half measure, huh? ;)
Got hooked into the Sergeant Keroro after watching it on Animax, though i must admit i cried at the end of Season 1 when the Keroro squad had to leave and it meant that all memories of them will be wiped out from Fuyuki and family/friends. It was so sad seeing all their items erased and saddest was when Giroro's cat went meowing at the faint images of the squad in the sky. :( But in the end, Fuyuki saw Keroro so they came back. As one of the squad members said, the erase function failed cos strongest ties are friendship! :)
I like Giroro best. He's the strong, cool type who has a crush on Natsumi and who picked up a stray white cat -- which looks very much like the white cat who married the prince in ''The Cat Returns'' -- and who camps by himself outdoors. I bought a Giroro wallet with his face! :D
Went to OG to get A's present, and i saw a clearance sale for some of the Keroro model kits. So i got them at $9.30 for 2! wow... Thank goodness for the 7% GST absorbed and the discount, else it would have been $13.95 each.
Anyway, i went a bit crazy and bought 6 models kits -- ku ku ku (as the Sergeant Major would chuckle) -- and fixed up 3 already. Of course i fixed up Giroro first, then the one that i found adorable is Keroro with his favourite Gundam model kit. heehee!
Giroro in his box
Giroro!
Keroro fixing his Gundam with Zaku by his side
Present for A
Wondering what to get for A for his birthday, so thought of getting him the big headed Gundam series of the Three Kingdoms. Big seed said the model i got was ok, but when dear saw it he was surprised that the boys play with these models as these are usually displayed rather than played.
Well, i suppose its ok if the boys are happy playing with them, though to the model kit enthusiasts, its probably a sacriledge! heehee...

Yet another fall
Read the news today about yet another fall. I wonder how much more can the people take? It really makes me worried; as it is we are all trying to keep our heads above the water when the reports came in about another fraud case. I think its all related; the fall of one impacts another so a domino effect starts. Where will the last crash be? It all highlights a common saying -- if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't! But what makes us still so susceptible to falling for it? Probably the very human greed. So who do we blame? The guy selling you the product? Or you?
Isn't it amazing how, when something crashes, we start to look for someone to blame and not take on part of the blame ourselves? Its similar to what is happening in my office now. The staff are so fast in blaming me and accusing me of wrongdoings or whatever isn't going on so well in the office. Hello? Termination for poor attendance isn't something that i do in a snap. I give chances and i'll just cull once i see that the instance is too high.
In their eagerness to align themselves with the new management, i sometimes think that the guys are doing it the wrong way round. They are mostly ignoring me, talking over me and referring to Ru for decisions. That is good and correct, but the way that Esther Goh does it is to pop in her head into the room and talk to the room. But she doesn't address me and since the room has both Ru & i inside, i ignored her. Afterall, how can i assume she's talking to me? All she said was ''They're having their break and i can't find them.'' Am i supposed to know she's talking to me? Well, i ignored the whole shift yesterday. They looked through me and so why should i treat them the same way?
Frankly, i think any matured manager would not have a good impression of them. If this is the way they treat the outgoing manager, then wouldn't that be the way they will treat the incoming manager when it is his or her turn to leave? While the outgoing manager is still around, i would have thought that due respect should still be given. Sounds sore of me? Errr... I've never seen such behaviour in all the times i've seen a change of command. Perhaps its their educational level? I don't think so; i think it all boils down to their upbringing and their maturity. Being a father or being in her 50s doesn't mean that they are matured enough to think properly.
This is what i see now. And it is when you are at the end that you will see the real attitude of some people. It does not give me a good feeling about them and this is one site that i will be relieved to leave.

Update on masala
We both agree -- it lacks an Indian baa-uu!!! Duh... don't think i'll be trying it again. :P
Masala = ???
I always thought that ''masala'' means potato. Afterall, when i order thosai, i get the plain version and when i order masala thosai, i get the version with the potato inside! Logical, isn't it? But it seems it refers to a spice, or something that Ru explained but which i forgot. She gave me the recipe for the potato filling, and its really simple. I tried cooking it just now and am waiting for dear to come back and do his version of food critic...
boiled potato
tumeric powder
mustard seeds
end result!
Now the kitchen is bombarded by the mustard seeds that popped out of the pot! So what does ''masala'' mean? *scratch head*

Countdown...
I'm on night inspection tonight, so i'm off tomorrow. Friday i've a medical appointment so i don't think i'm going to work! Then Ru has asked to do night inspection next Thursday, meaning that my last physical day is on Thursday! That gives me about 4 days & 2 nights, but which is more like 4 days left! So big seed had counted correctly. :) And frankly, i don't think i'll be staying the whole of the last Thursday night. Think i'll go in, meet Ru a while then go off. Which reminds me; i've to pack up some from today onwards. Thank goodness i've always had my own rule that whatever personal items i have in office should be no more than what i can carry back myself...
Heard too that Esther Goh is now spreading the news that i'm changing all the 3rd shift and messing up and demoting supervisors etc now that i'm leaving. I can only say that it is typical of her type of people. Needless to say, my last few days are now not comfortable at all and i can't wait to leave at the end of the day.
4 more days!

I accept!
your resignation, that is...
Had quite a drama day today, starting with the call from R that Kalid had left his files in front of my office door. Well, being the rather mean person i was, i kicked the files aside when i reached cos i just don't have any respect for this pathetic specimen of a man who works against me and Z, and i felt he was just throwing his tantrums.
Suffice to say, he didn't want to listen to Ru's reason and kept harping on his work and all the usual crap. So in the end, he stormed off and then came in and slammed a piece of paper on her table. She took a look at it and i chuckled, cos he slammed his resignation letter, addressed to me but handed over to her! I told her too that i can don't recognise it cos he didn't even get my name correct! And he had the audacity to rant and rave while J Goh was in the office, even slamming the letter in J Goh's presence.
Foo later came in and he told me he was apprehensive about taking over Kalid's portfolio as he felt he would be blamed for Kalid's resignation. I told him the full details on Ru & my constraints and that if that idiot Kalid were to wait out, he would be able to do what he wanted. But anyway, we got what we wanted ie Kalid resigned without us having to deploy him outside. Haha!
Heard his girlfriend saying out loud that she has a ''love letter'' for M too. Anyway, later M gave me her MC but which was issued by a TCM. I asked HQ and was told the company doesn't recognise TCM MCs. Well of course his girlfriend blew her top. She called me and slammed down when i told her its not accepted, and by then i was already very mad, so when she hung up i shouted out loud ''F*** YOU!!!'' Think the volume outside toned down when i shouted out. Good for them! M then came in with J and their faces were a bit white, cos i suppose they had never heard me swearing before. I yelled at M that although i told the staff i am resigning and that Ru is now the RM, it doesn't give them the right to hang up on me and be so rude. But right after that i apologised as i told him i'm not angry with he or J, just very pissed with the staff.
Told J Goh too that i've heard my staff saying that i'm stirring up all these before i leave. Anyway, all these plans were already in the process, just that the implementation had to be accelerated cos of the site situation.
I'm too pissed off to bother about these useless staff. To think they are supposedly supervisors! I've only5 more days and i don't intend to do anymore nor talk to them if i can help it. These bums are supposed to help the asst mgrs to lead; all i can say is they are a liability rather than an asset to the site.
And yes, Ru and i have accepted that bum's resignation. He won't be able to join the company cos he's been blacklisted as J Goh has already known about his working attitude, or lack of. And Ru knows about Kalid and his girlfriend, even though Kalid has a very beautiful wife and a pretty little daughter. Good luck to him finding a job now lor.

The men don't get it!
Wanted to go shopping today to get A's birthday present, since Robinsons is absorbing the GST till today. Wanted to go early to avoid the crowds too. In the end, had to scupper my well laid out shopping plans -- i'd have gone out and be back by noon -- and now i'm feeling so grouchy. Reason? Dear has to send my mil at about 1130hrs for ''rubbing'' (is it called traditional massage?)
Dear told me i should go and then he'll drive round to pick me up with mil in the car. I said that in this case, she'll see the shopping bag and then what am i to say? I went out shopping for my nephew? "Ya lor, just tell her your nephews & niece are more important than my nephews and niece." He said it with such a serious look on his face that made me wonder if he's pulling my leg, so i replied "you want me to die is it?" ''Ok what...''
The advert for the bank really hits the spot. The men just don't get it! Just try to imagine telling your mil that your relatives are more important than hers. Of course, if you want to start a long feud, by all means...
Needless to say, i'm now still at home and FUMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Important Announcement
No, not mine. I'm not pregnant!
Read in the papers today that a DJ told his listeners that he had an important announcement to make, and then went to announce that he has split from his wife. Apparently that was how he informed all the first time round he divorced too.
Really, does the DJ think he is that important? How would knowing his divorce affect world news? Would the Singapore dollar fall as a result of this "important announcement"? I think the guy is just too bigheaded for his good!
But then again, it could have been stated in his employment contract that all personal details are considered as ïmportant announcements" that he has to make known to his listeners, huh? But really, i simply am not interested in his personal life. No need to keep the world at large informed about his laundry...

Lovey dovey
Today is Valentine's Day. WEnt out for facial and saw guys with armloads of big bouquets -- imagine the cost! -- and also groups of people selling roses and nosegays along the MRT station exits.
CH & i met for lunch yesterday and we talked about whether we would be celebrating with our husbands. The typical gift suggestions would not work too and really, who would want to spend a bomb today for dinner when the same meal would be much cheaper on another day? But judging by the brisk business, i think there is still no lack of rich people in Singapore who would splurge on this one day.
We would be going to GP for dinner later, once dear returns from work. Would i feel that it is a Valentine's Day dinner? I guess if i want it to be a candlelight dinner, the auntie will oblige by providing a stick of candle for me, since dear & i are frequent patrons of her establishment. But candlelight does not make a dinner a Valentine's Day dinner right? If i can't afford the electricity at home, my dinners will be by candlelight too!
In the end, i think i'll just bake some biscuits for dear. Today? No la... Today i'll just scatter some die cut paper hearts all around his PC and where he would be. But i'll bake the biscuits and decorate them with the Hundreds & Thousands sprinkles, and get the heart shaped decos if i can. That'll be another day when he isn't expecting anything from me.
And wouldn't that be better? Why wait for that one day in a year to show your love for your better half, when you can shower him with love daily?

You can go NTUC to get the vouchers... they will do check on you 2 weeks later... if anything, just work your eye muscles and make a few tears come out!
Wow... I overheard the conversation just now in the train while minding my own business. And? Well, i wouldn't have understood the conversation if not for me being able to understand Malay! I suppose that's one advantage of understanding a language people generally won't expect you to, especially since i'm quite Chinese looking and my generation isn't as expected to know Malay as my parents' generation, since we don't live in kampungs. So these women could gabble away happily while i listened in disgust.
Hearing it, i'm quite disheartened. The women look fit and were quite well dressed. At least they weren't in rags and they can afford to have dangly and bling bling stuff on their bodies! And yet they seem to have the kind of mentality that if freebies are being given out, they should be qualified for it (i thought only my one small group of cleaners of that nationality have that kind of mentality!). I wonder if it is a result of their race being favoured or discounted? If i am fit and able to work, i would be ashamed to have to seek help when it is my laziness that is keeping me from getting a job. For they were talking about ways to get money from the govt or other help groups.
Like this how to improve? *shake head*

''Parked'' at trolley bay
Dear and i went to the blue and yellow furniture store at Tampines last night for dinner and to look for tables. Those who have been there will know there is a place for the customers to park their trolleys near the restaurant.
Well, being the typical oblivious me, i was walking in from the entrance and looking at the parapet wall baskets and their goods when dear commented about a new kind of trolley being parked. ''Huh?'' went i and when i looked around, guess? We saw an old lady sitting in a wheelchair looking frail and lost, parked at the trolley bay!
Wow... Don't tell me her family can't bring her in for a meal? Or is it that the family's brains have been fried from being kept under constant cover such that they can't think properly?
For goodness sake, why park your mum/grandma at the trolley bay while you have your meal? Its not exactly crowded; at 9pm there wasn't any dinner crowd and there were plenty of seats! At least have one family member stay with her. She looked so pitiful, sitting in her wheelchair and looking around, as if she was abandoned (which i can assume she was). So mean of her family!

New mascara!
I bought a new mascara by Givenchy recently. Used it the first time on Monday and R commented that my eyes look really different! Don't know if S8 really noticed anything on Tuesday when we met for lunch lor, except that she commented my right eye is differently made up than the left! No choice; lighting was different when i applied it at home!
Anyway, i must say that i like the effect very much. I don't have to use much and yet the lashes are longer. It also curls the lashes a bit, but maybe its because its in black so the effect is very easily seen? Anyway, there's 20% discount for the brand, so i may go get more before my last day. I've not seen it at the department stores -- not that i go there so often anyway -- so i think i should stock up some. :) And after discount its about $31.20, if i remember the price correctly, so its quite cheap considering... :)
Big seed and little plum, you sure you don't want to try any more mascaras? This is really really different...

Out of appointment
This morning we received an email from AK stating that, among other issues, R will replace me immediately as the RM. Fine by me, but she was hopping mad cos she has no time to pick up anything yet and she has just realized that the way i handle things is very different from how she did it at 3B! Anyway, i handed over the walkie-talkie to her and have been enjoying my lack of appointment. However, i did tell her that i included this point in the minutes of meeting; there is a duration stipulated somewhere for the training and actual deployment of certain KAH, and i told her that in the event she should be whacked for failing to meet this, she has to dig out the email AK sent as well as the minutes of meeting as proof that the immediate change of a super KAH -- ie my post! -- was upon the direction of the client ie AK! heehee... hope he gets into trouble with his boss lor...
Anyway, i am relieved that she has been forced to take over immediately cos i was wondering how to get the admin stuff for the handing overdone if i'm still to take on the appointment. Now i will have time to do so... :)

Reflection
Time really passes so fast. CNY is almost at the end and as i type, we are fast approaching the last day of CNY. Wow... And at midnight, i'll be on my last 3 weeks, or more like the last 15 days of work where i am.
So what did i do on CNY? Basically nothing. I still think that the point of the visiting is to distribute angpaos as well as to account for your presence to your relatives. Then again, if i only need to visit you once a year, what difference does it make if i visit you at all? After all, how important can you be to me if i only see you yearly? How much can you mean to me and vice versa in such instances? These are the relatives that, to me, i only see at 2 fixed occasions apart from the yearly CNY visit. Yup, the weddings & funerals type. If i mean something to you, shouldn't you call me to catch up on the happenings of our lives? Or shouldn't i call you to chat? Rather than to visit your home and both of us are so awkward and conversation is so stilted. In fact, if the frequency of calls and gatherings is so limited when we are in the same country, i must say that my relatives are more distant than my friends.
Oh well... other than that, i enjoyed playing mahjong with dear's friends' girlfriends/wives. Dear asked me if i like gambling. I told him my personal rule is never to play more than what i have in my wallet, so that i will never lose more than i can be comfortable with. And since my wallet has less than $50 at any given time, it is an amount that i can live with. I take my losses like a purchase gone bad so it doesn't hurt me.
But i told dear that i also will not bet on a game that i don't understand, or even play with people i don't know. For games like blackjack or even in between, a large portion of it is your luck and bravado, assuming all parties do not cheat. For example, if you have 18 points in blackjack, what do you do? Do you draw still? You have 3 more points to 21. So do you dare? For in between, its your luck. How else will you explain getting an ace when your cards are A and K?
For mahjong, its a combination of luck and skill. Luck in what you draw and throw, skill in arranging your tiles to gain the maximum points and also to thwart the chances of winning for the other 3 parties. That's the reason i like mahjong. Oh, and also its generally cheaper than going to the movies! :)

Excused from cooking
Showed dear my left index finger yesterday and today. Last night it was only peeling at the top of my index finger. This morning, it has spread to the middle section -- can't remember the exact term for the section of the finger -- as well as the ring finger and thumb.
Dear said its probably fungal infection. How in the world did it happen? Fungal infection on my finger? Anyway we concluded that i probably should not cook until it clears, but am i supposed to approach the doctor for this or get the OTC medication?
Hmm... excused from cooking... i wonder if i can interpret it to include excuse from housework? heehee...
Luckily its on my left hand. I use the index finger of my right hand for the biometric access to the restricted areas in the workplace and if i can't access then it would be bad... or good, depending on which view! ;P

A cut for a cut?
Dear went to BL for a haircut on Thursday. And guess what? The hairdresser cut his ear!!! Yes! Cut his ear!!! I saw the cut mark on his ear and i was so upset. And he? Never mind la, its my fault also cos i was talking to her.
Ya, talking to HER!!! I would have snapped at her and demanded medical fees and all. To add insult to (literal) injury, dear still had to pay for the haircut.
I told dear that it must be because she's pretty that's why he didn't kick up a fuss, and he said she's a service provider, its his fault too for talking to her so let's not stress her. But if you're not able to talk to your customer and cut his hair, then for goodness sake don't talk! What am i paying you for? To talk? Bear in mind your primary task! Grrr...... I told him he has to promise me not to go back to that shop ever again, and he agreed. I can only hope so.
Little plum, tell A not to go to that shop. Its the shop at level 2 beside the travel agent at the POSB staircase. And tell your friends too! Spread the news! Cut your hair at my shop! I'll throw in a free ear cut too! Its pay for 1, get another service free!

New PC
Bought a desktop recently. Finally, the 5-year-old notebook conked out on me. Well, not exactly conked out, but it was a matter of time. First it was the inability to maintain the date. Then even after the battery was left attached, the notebook informed me that the system date & time was to be reset. That means that if i want to retain the last date & time settings, i would have to leave it constantly switched on to the power socket. And recently it refused to talk to my phone when i wanted to transfer the photos. So dear told me its a sign that something was going to go anytime soon. sigh...
ok lor, so in the end we got a desktop. So big! But i suppose if it makes dear happy... I'm not into such tech stuff; actually i only wanted a little netbook but he didn't encourage it. Well, he chose the model that we bought in the end. Faster? To me i don't really feel it. As long as i can use it, read my email, do internet banking, blog, i'm happy. So now i'm using the new HP set.
BUT!!!
When we came back the letter 'R' on the keyboard was not sensitive, so dear had to send it for repair. REPAIR!!! For a brand new keyboard!!! sigh... Now i'm using his other keyboard which he uses for his games -- don't ask me why he has so many of such stuff at home -- while waiting for the keyboard to be repaired. And its a repair job, not a one-to-one exchange. For a brand new wireless keyboard. That is not used. *shake head* So is this a Have Problem pc? Dear assures me that if it can withstand the abuse of the NSFs -- our soldiers use this brand -- then it should generally be quite sturdy. Don't know; i'm not too encouraged by the fact that the keyboard is spoilt. :(
oh well, now got to learn about Vista and how to use it...
